SecureOffice WebShield (MDDS) on Linux

With the proliferation of mission-critical web-based resources and services comes the risk of web-based attacks, which can lead to the leaking of confidential information. To protect national security, government workers require secure access to the information contained on web sites at various classification levels, including Unclassified.

SecureOffice® WebShield™ provides secure search capabilities, as well as secure web browse-down, or proxy, from high classification networks (or domains) to lower classified and unclassified domains. WebShield is configurable to site security policies and serves as a Protection Level 4 (PL4) boundary device for preventing penetration into a higher classified domain from a lower level domain.

Benefits of SecureOffice WebShield:

  • Increases productivity while maintaining a high level of security.
  • Enables web browsing from high networks to web servers on lower-classified networks.
  • Is easy to support and administer as it supports all standard web browsers and requires no software modifications on client workstations.
  • Is customizable to site security policies with customizable virus scanning, dirty word search, file typing, and active content blocking.
  • Provides accountability for user actions with Strong Authentication that includes DoD X.509 digital certificates, IP address, username, and password.
  • Takes advantage of the security capabilities provided by Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 5 (RHEL5), the first secure Linux operating system to enter evaluation at Evaluation Assurance Level 4 (EAL4) under the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) against the Common Criteria requirements associated with Cross-Domain Solutions, which include Labeled Security Protection Profile (LSPP), Controlled Access Protection Profile (CAPP), and Role Based Access Control (RBAC) Protection Profile.
