Trusted Computer Solutions Wins LinuxWorld 2008
Product Excellence Award
Industry Experts Select Security Blanket™ as Best New Security Solution
HERNDON, VA – August 12, 2008 – At LinuxWorld 2008 – Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. (TCS), a developer of security applications that run on the Linux Operating System, today announced the company has won a Product Excellence Award for “Best Security Solution” for its new enterprise version of Security Blanket. Security Blanket is the industry’s most comprehensive system lock-down and security management solution that enables system administrators to automatically configure and enhance the security levels of Linux operating systems (OS). The awards were judged by leading industry experts that recognize ground-breaking products and services developed for the Linux and open source communities.
Operating system security is often overlooked because it is difficult and time consuming. Security Blanket solves this problem by automating the lock down process via an easy to navigate graphical user interface. The product incorporates a variety of industry standards for Linux OS lock down to ensure users can maintain any level of compliancy that meets their organizational security guidelines. Security Blanket also provides a baseline capability for maintaining security compliance over time. By using Security Blanket, Linux Servers are more stable and go down less often. Auditors now have the ability to ensure organizations are compliant with industry standards, and management will be confident that OS security is being maintained.
"We launched Security Blanket at LinuxWorld 2007 and released the full Enterprise Edition, six months later. This year, at LinuxWorld 2008 we are honored to receive this prestigious recognition,” stated Ed Hammersla, Chief Operating Officer for TCS. “Security Blanket has come a long way, very quickly, to give both commercial and government organizations a reliable and secure lock-down tool that is easy to use and reports on compliance utilizing today’s industry standards. We are very pleased to receive this award from the premier Linux event of 2008."
Also during LinuxWorld 2008, TCS unveiled new compliance features for Security Blanket Enterprise and Standalone editions. The new features expand the applicability of Security Blanket to provide compliance guidelines for new types of organizations. Specifically, organizations with industrial control systems (ICS), companies that process credit card transactions, and government agencies accessing classified data. Security Blanket also supports the security guidelines recommended by the Center for Internet Security (CIS), the Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and selected guidelines from the SANS Institute’s defined risks associated with Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP).
The product supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 4 and 5, CentOS versions 4 and 5 and Oracle Enterprise Linux versions 4 and 5.
