U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) Selects Trusted Computer Solutions’ SimShield to Integrate and Safeguard Classified and Unclassified Training Systems

Cross Domain Solution Protects Classified Data Needed for Realistic Warfighter Training

HERNDON, Va. – August 24, 2009 – Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. (TCS), a leading developer of cross domain and cyber security solutions, today announced that the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) Warrior Preparation Center (WPC) has selected SimShield™ as its solution to enable secure and realistic warfighter training. USAFE is the air component of the U.S. European Command (EUCOM), a unified combatant command distinct from the Armed forces. USAFE leads virtual and constructive training simulations and defense mission operations across Europe.

The USAFE WPC provides operational and tactical level training for exercises that require the use of classified data. These exercises must follow the Office of the Department of National Intelligence’s (ODNI) mandate that a certified and accredited cross domain solution be implemented in order to protect data from unauthorized use. SimShield will provide the required assurance that WPC’s training exercises are safeguarded at the appropriate classification levels for all participants including coalition partners.

SimShield is a cross domain solution that provides the capability to label, segregate, protect and exchange data between logical training ranges executing at different sensitivity or classification levels. SimShield provides customers with the option to select the simulation protocol best suited for their requirements. The WPC will use SimShield’s Distributive Interactive Simulation (DIS) protocol, which is a standard for conducting simulated war gaming across multiple host computers.

“Having recently received Secret and Below Interoperability (SABI) – certification with the Pacific Air Force (PACAF) training range for the Red Flag – Alaska program, SimShield is becoming widely recognized by our nation’s military as an effective simulation training tool,” stated Ed Hammersla, Chief Operating Officer, Trusted Computer Solutions. “Our expertise in providing cross domain solutions that meet the high standards of the Department of Defense effectively prepares our military for battle should they be called to action.”

SimShield also supports the High Level Architecture (HLA) and Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA) environments.
