Trusted Computer Solutions' SimShield Now SABI Certified

Pacific Air Force (PACAF) Implements SimShield to Integrate Classified and Unclassified Training Systems

HERNDON, Va. – July 20, 2009 – Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. (TCS), a leading developer of cross domain and cyber security solutions, today announced that the company’s Linux-based SimShield™ product is now certified at the Secret and Below Interoperability (SABI) level. Over the last year, Pacific Air Force (PACAF) and the 353 Combat Training Squadron (CTS) lead the effort to take SimShield through the SABI certification process. As a result of this effort, their distributed simulation networks, which operate under different security classifications, can now communicate securely with one another.

“Today’s warfighter requires access to both classified and unclassified data across multiple networks. With the recent SABI certification, warfighters now have a near real-time simulation solution to prepare for any combat situation,” said Ed Hammersla, Chief Operating Officer for Trusted Computer Solutions. “Our SimShield cross domain solution is an effective tool for training the nation’s military that meets the high standards and initiatives of the Department of Defense.”

As the largest instrumented air, ground, and electronic combat training range in the world, Pacific Alaska Range Complex Air Combat Training System (PARC ACTS) is PACAF’s premiere joint combat training venue for RED FLAG – Alaska (RF-A). PARC ACTS uses SimShield to provide the capability to label, segregate, protect, and exchange data between Testing and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA) systems that are at different sensitivity or classification levels.

“SimShield TENA, certified for SABI, enables our military forces to participate in live training exercises without compromising data security,” said Billy Smith, HQ PACAF Ranges Program Manager.

TCS worked closely with Cubic Defense Group, a San Diego-based supplier of live, virtual and constructive military training systems, to integrate TENA-compliant training assets and SimShield into PARC ACTS. PARC ACTS now has the ability to support joint training efforts, while using different classified systems that mimic real world operations.
