SecureOffice® Product Line with Patent Pending Technology
TCS files for Patent Protection for
Key Intelligence Sharing Components
HERNDON, Va., May 03, 2005 — Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. (TCS), a leading supplier of secure information sharing technologies to the Department of Defense (DoD), the intelligence community and commercial industry, today announced it has filed a patent application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) relating to certain cross domain technologies that are core components of several popular TCS products such as the SecureOffice® Trusted Workstation™, SecureOffice Trusted Releaser™ and SecureOffice Trusted Gateway™ products.
One feature of the patent pending technology is its ability to automate and enforce the DoD and Intelligence Community’s Inter-Domain File Transfer Policy. This policy requires a two-person Reliable Human Review (RHR) before any information is moved from one network domain to another. The cross-domain technologies perform numerous security checks and routes documents to authorized individuals to gain appropriate approvals before a data transfer between domains takes place.
"Information sharing has been a manual process for far too long — the war on terror requires better security, speed and agility," said Edward Hammersla, chief operating officer at TCS.
"While it might seem like a minor step, the process of checking and signing off on vital information before passing it along to other intelligence agencies or classified domains is significant," said Hammersla. "These specific cross domain technologies not only automate a once manual process but enforce stringent policies to ensure that information moves safely, securely and quickly to help our nation do its part in detecting and preventing international terrorism."
Trusted Workstation, Trusted Releaser and Trusted Gateway are products designed to allow intelligence analysts and agencies to coordinate, view and share data across multiple classified networks. The patent pending, cross domain technologies streamline the file sharing approval process, making information sharing among intelligence agencies and analysts run much more smoothly. Automating the process also increases control, predictability, audit-ability and provides policy enforcement not possible in a manual system.
Greater information sharing among DoD Intelligence, CIA, FBI and other agencies was a cornerstone of reforms recommended by the bipartisan 9/11 Commission, the 2004 intelligence reform bill, and the presidential mandate to strengthen the sharing of terrorist information. All TCS products are developed to maintain a balance between information security and intelligence sharing.
