Trusted Computer Solutions Signs Patent License Agreement
with NSA to Market NetTop™

Industry Leader Expands Linux Offerings;
Adds SELinux-based NetTop to SecureOffice® Product Suite

HERNDON, Va., August 09, 2005 — Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. (TCS), a leading supplier of trusted software applications and information sharing technologies to the Department of Defense, the intelligence community and commercial industry, announced today that it has signed an agreement with the National Security Agency (NSA) to license and market NetTop™ technology.

NetTop is a desktop technology developed by the research arm of NSA to address information assurance requirements and streamline the methods intelligence agencies use to manage sensitive data. Under a Patent Licensing agreement with the NSA Domestic Technology Transfer Program, TCS plans to enhance overall functionality, usability and security features of the SecureOffice® NetTop product so that it better serves the needs of both government and commercial entities.

NetTop will be the first secure Linux-based application offering from TCS. The NetTop product will join the current TCS product line as a valuable addition to the SecureOffice suite of applications. With its NSA-accredited mechanism for secure domain separation, NetTop meets the needs of government and commercial entities that want systems protected from cross-domain contamination and not subject to compromise.

"For years our customers have been clamoring for the look, feel, flexibility, and functionality of today’s commercial software," said Susan Alexander, Chief of Information Assurance Research at the NSA. "With NetTop they can get just such an environment... without compromising on security."

"Adding NetTop to the TCS SecureOffice application suite gives both commercial and government clients more choice"" said Ed Hammersla, chief operating officer at TCS. "This is important because it could mean significant cost savings and increased convenience for NSA and other security-conscious government agencies which have an increasing need to solve the problems of cross-domain interoperability and secure domain separation."

NetTop can expand intelligence analysts’ use of commercial software and eliminate the need to work at multiple machines. Currently, many government agencies physically separate networks on different workstations. This creates a situation that is not only costly to operate and maintain, but also results in a cumbersome manual process for sharing critical information.

Greater information sharing among DoD Intelligence, CIA, FBI and other agencies was a cornerstone of reforms recommended by the bipartisan 9/11 Commission, the 2004 intelligence reform bill, and the presidential mandate to strengthen the sharing of terrorist information. All TCS products are developed to maintain a balance between information security and intelligence sharing.
