Trusted Computer Solutions Inks $1.77 Million Deal
With US Naval Air Systems Command
Distributed Training Network Guard Ends Simulator Isolation
to Enhance Training
HERNDON, Va., Dec. 06, 2004 — Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. (TCS), a leading supplier of secure information sharing technologies to the Department of Defense, the intelligence community and commercial industry, today announced it will build a solution for the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) using the Distributed Training Network Guard (DTNG) to permit secure connectivity between simulators with different security classifications. The deal is expected to be worth $1.77 million.
"The TCS-developed DTNG makes possible a breakthrough level of connectivity to enhance and improve critical simulation training exercises," said Edward Hammersla, chief operating officer at TCS. "DTNG is built on the proven and accredited commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) product, TCS SecureOffice® Foundation™. This enables TCS to create a solution that can efficiently and securely meet classification guide regulations and satisfy the needs of the simulation training community."
The DTNG provides best-in-class data throughput from one domain to another, making it capable of supporting near-real time simulations, including accurate and immediate voice communication.
Typically, warfighter simulators operate in controlled domains and cannot communicate with other simulators without risking accidental disclosure of sensitive data. As a result, warfighters are isolated from other members of the simulation community, precluding simulation exercises that mimic real world operations and limiting the effectiveness of training exercises. The DTNG solves this problem by providing secure two-way automated transfer of data.
The TCS-developed, Air Force-funded Security Reclassification Rule Set Intelligent Assistant Tool provides a graphical user interface to permit security classification and simulation domain experts at the facility to enter and review reclassification rules that govern the transfer of data and operations across security boundaries. Once approved, the administrator can install guard rules into the DTNG in a matter of minutes.
The domain experts and security officers can instruct the DTNG to perform very complex and secure filtering or sanitization. This allows the warfighter to practice real-world experiences to better prepare for actual combat.
