David W. Carey, Executive Director, Blackbird Technologies

David W. Carey joined Blackbird Technologies on May 1, 2005. In his capacity as an Executive Director, David assists the company, which provides its clients with state-of-the-art IT security expertise, with business development and strategic planning.

Prior to joining Blackbird Technologies, David was Vice President, Information Assurance for Oracle Corporation from September 4, 2001 until he assumed his current position. While at Oracle, he built and directed Oracle’s Information Assurance Center. Located in Oracle’s Reston, Virginia facility, the Center provides a venue to demonstrate Oracle’s security-related technology and for Oracle customers and partners to address a wide array of information assurance and security challenges. Center personnel work with partners in Federal, state and local government, the private sector and academia to enhance the understanding and application of information assurance technology.

David worked for the Central Intelligence Agency for 32 years. During his career at CIA, he held several senior positions including that of Executive Director, often referred to as the Chief Operating Official or number three position in the Agency, responsible for everything from strategic planning to daily operations. Before assuming that position, David was Director and one of the founders of the DCI Crime and Narcotics Center, the Director of the Office of Near Eastern and South Asian Analysis and Deputy Director of the Office of Global Issues.

David is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Delaware.
